Here to shake off the Autumn blues, Absynthe Minded out of Belgium make it here to Berlin for a gig at Frannz Club.
And when we say shaking off the Autumn blues, we really mean it, Absynthe Minded are the archetypal feel good band, sunny instrumentation and songs memorable enough to quickly make it into your singing-in-the-shower repertoire. They’re a complicated concoction for a band with such superficially simple sounding songs, blues & roots notes right next to references to your favourite Sunday afternoon indie bands, all the while maintaining a jazz-pop intelligence gluing the package together, everything from this five piece sounds right on target and focused. The self titled album from Absynthe Minded (released October 15th in Germany) is an easy listen, but far from being anything that you’d ever look down on, you’re going to find a lot of occasions to give it a spin. Especially with the colder months coming, you’re going to be looking for something warm.
The gig’s a bit pricey at 17€, but if you’ve fallen in love with the album, like so many other people already have, you’ll not even notice.
